I have long believed that many young people do not realize their full potential. This view is shaped by my own experiences before and during my undergraduate studies. Without the motivation and support from my tutors during my UTME and undergraduate years, I would not have ranked among the top students in my class. My tutors regularly checked on my academic progress and encouraged me to excel. Their support, along with recognition through awards and gifts, motivated me to perform well. My most significant reward came when the University of Lagos announced at my convocation that it would retain the top two graduating students from each department, which means I secured a job before my national youth service.
Since I began my role in August 2016, I have remained committed to helping students recognize and achieve their potential. While this sometimes challenges students emotionally, especially when I set ambitious academic targets, many have exceeded their own expectations. For example, several students I advise initially doubted that a 5.00 semester GPA was possible. Through hard work and dedication, the regular cohort achieved two perfect GPAs in the first semester of the 2025/2026 session. Overall, the 200-level cohort produced 16 First Class GPAs, with 16 from the regular cohort and three from the ICE group.
